Matchbook Mini Albums

Ok guys, another video, and I promise this one is shorter than the last one. (Ha-Ha)  I don't know about you but I love being off from work, along with spending time with my family (essentially watching while my DH, cooked all of Christmas dinner) I have been able to scrap all day or all night and just enjoy my hobby.  I have loved making my gifts this year... this could be the start of something big.....  This is a video showing the two Matchbook Mini Albums I made as gifts,  loving them.. quick and easy, yet very pretty.  I see more birthday gifts in someone's future..

For these I used cardstock instead of paperbags along with DCWV Christmas Stacks.

Until Next Time  (and I promise to get shorter) Happy Scrappin'.

Dickson Christmas Folio

Hello everyone, don't you just love this time of year?  I do. This year I decided to make gifts for some of my close friends, so you'll be seeing several videos of the completed projects.  This is actually the second gift I have completed, the first being the Christmas Lapbook Daily.  I loved making this project, and will probably make another one, HUMM who's birthday is coming up????  Ok, on to the project.  I used the Occassion Folio Tutorial and Video by Kathy Orta to make this gift.

List of materials used includes:
Washi Tape, K& Company Tim Coffee Christmas Specialty Papers, K& Company
Yuletide Paper, Authentique's Festive Collection and 2 MS punches - Beaded Lace
Edge and sorry don't have the name of the other, and of course my Crop-A-Dile
                    1/2-1/4" Corner Chomper.

December Mini Lapbook

Hey Scrappers, I have a new project and a video to share with you.  It's called my December Daily Lapbook.  I created this mini album, (one that doesn't seem so mini, BUT...) to give as a Christmas gift.  I did not put the numbers of the days in it because the person who receives it may want to just use it as a December mini album without the numbers.  Anyway it was fun to make, It grew, and grew, partially because I couldn't really understand which page Kathy Ortha, duh!! (who made the video) was on so I just, watched her technique and then started incorporating them on my own.  Now, that became fun.  Anyway, I used the following materials to make this project:

Paper:     K& Company - Holiday Images
Christmas Day by Carta Bella  (chipboad Accents)
DCWV - The Christmas Matstack on the tags
                                The chrismas writing
                                The Ultimate Christnas stack
Recollections - stickers, memorists,Giddenhingses
                         crafting tape
                        / Americn Craft Rbbons
                      K & Company/Little yellow bicycle/Colorbok

So here we go.............

Distress Ink Storage Unit

Recently on a blog that I follow, a fellow PITA, made a swivel holder for her Tim Holtz Distress Ink pads.  Following her instructions and video I completed the Ink storage unit  from Jen's Joint ---Thank you for the tutorial- This is the original Distress Ink Storage Unit link http://www.ozegran.blogspot.com.au/2012/09/distress-ink-storage-unit-finished.html if you would like to make the Distress Ink holder also.  I have a few pics of how it all came together.

Her original project did not contain the box on top.  I added it so I would have a place for my Distress ink refill bottles, basically so I can find them when I need them.  I am really enjoying my holder, it sits right on the desk beside me. Now that my inks are so handy, I seem to be using them on every project.  Below is just some of the items I used to  make this project:

DCWV - paper stack The Luxury Stack (an older stack)
Scotch Quick Dry Adhesive
Inside the original little boxes was sprayed with Adirondack Espresso Color Wash by Ranger (I am now in love with this stuff, I bought a couple of bottles at the Ranger Warehouse sale just to play with them and now I am hooked)
A swivel base, I purchased at Home Depot for about $6.
Pearls from the Pearlescent Goodie Box from the Estate Collection
MS Trellis Loop Trim Punch
MS Beaded Lace Edge Punch
MS Lace Doily Punch

I will tell you that it does take an entire large bottle of the Scotch Quick dry to make this, and I used large clamp clips to hold the boxes together while they dried.

This was not a hard project, just time consuming waiting for glue to dry.  But I do love the outcome.
Hope you decide to make one too, if you do, share the pics.  Until then, Happy Scrappin'

Blessed Fall Tag

Hey Guys:  Long Time no see, a lot has been going on in my life, mainly Grad-School at Seton Hall.  It  really is taking up a lot of my crafting time.  But it's all good hopefully it will enhance my teaching career and payoff in the long run.  Anyway, this is a video I shot late, late, late one night.  I really am trying to perfect my video skills, so please bear with me as I get use to this process and learn how to use my camera and basically how to talk at the same time. I hope you enjoy it, I know I enjoyed making it,
 Happy Scrappin' till next time.

HIMCR#67 - Challenge

Hi Guys, I missed my regular posting date, but I do have a new quick card to post today.  Really that's about all the time I have is for a quick card, so this will have to satisfy those creative juices I have flooding my head right now.  In response to #67 challenge from Hiding in My Craftroom I made a card from scraps.  I just bought several of Tim Holtz dies (I only own  6 at the present time) and I wanted to see what they looked like on paper, so I used them all on a banner that I had left from the last card I made.  The distress ink colors on the banner are fired brick, peeled paint, tea dye, spiced marmalade, victorian velvet and I went around the edge with black soot.  I liked the look so much that I decided to spray it with of my two favorite glimmer mists, Dazzling Diamonds and Daffodil.  (Who am I kidding, all the glimmer mist colors are my favorite, it just depends on the project I am working on)  Then I decided to give it a little texture by crinkling it up while it was wet, and then drying it with my heat gun.  I love the effect, you can just see a little shimmer on it when the light hits it.  I also had 2 circles left  over from the last card so I used the Tim Holtz stapler to staple the entire thing together.  I used a stamp from my Close To My Heart collection and letters from Recollections Glitter Alphabet for the  "We are" title in the circle.  A scrap from Recollections black card stock was used for the base of the card along with 3 Pearlescent  Goodie Box Jewel Tone pearls.  I plan to make several cards and give them to the Office Administrator at our church to mail to the sick and shut in.  For a quick and easy scrap project, I think it came out pretty darn good!

So, until next time, Happy Scrappin'.

HIMCR#66

I'm on a roll now guys, 2 posts in one weekend.  It's only because we have the extra day off  and my friend Robin came over.  We decided to make a card for a couple of challenges.  We chose to combine 2 challenges, Hiding in my Craft room - whose challenge colors were orange, purple and black and the DCWV stack-a-holic template challenge.  This is the card that I came up with.

HIMCR#66

I think it came out pretty darn good.  In this challenge I used the following products:
-Paper from DCWV - HIPPIE CHIC matstack and the La Bella Rouge Stack
-the flower is from Prima
-the banners were cut using Pretty Pennants and my Cricut Expression2
-jute (string) by Natural Connections
-Just for you stamp by Close to my Heart
-Purple jewels - Imaginesce (IRock)

Ok Guys, until next time, Happy Scrappin'

Happy Birthday Robin

Hello Again:
Guess what, I finished my first assignment in my Administrator's Computer class.  I am so stoked, so I decided to do a quick card for my friend's birthday.  No, really I had to get the gift and do a card because she was coming over to see me today and I wanted it done for her when she got here.  I was literally glueing the final touches on while she was on the deck talking to my DH(Darling Husband).  Anyway I purchased a gift bag from the dollar store for her gift, so I decided to  make a quick matching card and this is what I came up with.  Hope you like it, I do.
Card alone

Card and Gift bag

Instructions:
-I simply cut an 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of white cardstock in half
-I used my 1 1/4 & my 1 1/2 paper shapers circle punches to punch out the orange and green circles from scrap paper
- orange ribbon from dollar store
-olive scrap of card stock for the happy birthday stamp
-one medium Jewel tone olive pearl from the Pearlescent Goodie Box
-bone scrap for background

I think it looks great, for 15 minutes of work and it was basically free, because it was made with scraps.  So until next time, Happy Scrappin'

Hope's Card

Yesterday my grand-daughter Hope called all excited  because she received her report card which contained all A's (she's in the 2nd grade in an accelerated class).  Of course being the wonderful grandmother that I am, I immediately told her that I was sending her a surprise for all her hard work.  So the scrapper in me went to work.  I'm not really a card maker, and I needed a quick card fast.  Recently, one of Ashley's friends had given me a card kit, so I decided to make use of it.  I needed simple and fast, but this card was a little too plain and the sayings didn't really meet my needs so I altered it and put some of my own scrap paper with it to make the card and here is my finished project inside and out:

The Outside

The Inside

Card Kit-Designs by Leere` - I used scraps from my stash for the pink and lime paper, Glam Pink, Waterfall and Lime Green stickles, tied a ribbon and bow and cut the bottom of the saying off so it would fit the occasion then I inked around it with powerpuffs pink cheeks ink.

I found two old stickers from Miss Elizabeth's (purchased at the Dollar Store) one sticker was the ribbon another was the A+ put them together to go on the inside of  the card and voila, my quick and easy masterpiece.

Isn't it cute, if I do say so myself, Ha-Ha (LOL) patting my own back. Needless to say, all I have to do now, is sign from Nana and Pop-pop and of course include the surprise and pop it in the mail.

So until next time folks, Happy Scrapping.

Mini Album - September Bonus Project -EP#2

Hello everyone, I am so excited, first of all I have a new video, secondly, I'm sharing the Bonus Project I made from the September kit club, by Kathy Orta at Paper Phenomenon.  I didn't use the same paper that she did, but I think my little mini book turned out just as well, even though I had a few bumps along the way.  (For one, the Basic Grey Black card stock I used cracked when I scored it using my bone folder.  Although I love the look of their black card stock, in the future I will only be using it on flat scrapbooking pages.) Oh well, live and learn.  On my project I featured paper from DCWV's Immortal Love Cardstack collection. I love, love, love that paper, it's so dark and brooding but, still sexy and deeply romantic.  Come to think of it, I made the complete mini album the day I receive the kit, but it took me a week to cover all the sections because I had to choose just the right combination of papers, even though I knew the main paper I wanted to use, that was the hardest part in making the entire mini album. OK, on to the project, people!!!!

I hope you enjoyed my post, thanks for watching and Happy Scrapping!!!

My Handmade Paper Beads

Hey guys, recently I have wanted to make my own hat pins for the covers of my scrapbook mini albums, one of the things needed to do this was beads. Well, after purchasing a few from  Micheals, I know that it is not efficient price wise.  So I decided to try to make my own from paper.  Here is how my first ones came out, I think they look pretty darn good for a first try.  I'll post them again when I finish them in a hat pin and use them on my album.  Don't they remind you of glass beads (and to think all it cost me for the materials was $6.00 to buy a pack of sharpie markers all the other materials I already had on hand)

Materials used:
tooth picks - to hold the beads while they dried ( I stuck them into some packing from one of my
purchases from HSN so they could stand and dry overnight)
     white cardstock cut into strips
1 pkg. different color sharpie markers
     scotch Quick Dry adhesive
Inkssentials - Glossy Accents  - to give them the glass look
    a very small paint brush

Aren't they beautiful? Ok, I'll see you soon, until then Happy Scrapping!!

Hope you enjoyed the video.

Mini Paperbag Album

Ok Guys, I'm going to try to shoot a short video showing my project, it's a paperbag mini album.  Yes, you heard right, it's a mini album that's made from paper bags.  I made everything from the cover to the inside content to the mini tags to go inside the album.   For this I used the following supplies: ( most of these supplies can be obtained at Michaels or ACmoore- you may already have some of them)
     - Your paper trimmer
      -a bone folder (essential)
     - Scotch Quick drying Tacky Glue (or any kind of quick drying scrapbooking glue)
      - 2 sheets of 12 x 12 cardstock
-Paper bags - (I use the 4 5/8" by 2 7/8" x 8 5/8" - Celebrate It Bags - they are available in the party section of Michaels - they are a little bit heavier than the regular bags-  you can choose any color you like, just know that the paper bag will show up so get a color that coordinates with the papers you plan to use to cover up the bag)
    -scissors
     - Tape glider  or any scrapbooking tape machine you have.    - Any 4.5 x 6.5 paper pad - (I used products made by DCWV - but any brand will do as long as they are this size)

I think that's all you will need (this is my first attempt at a video- so be kind in your comments - I had to use the web cam in my computer, but I still had a good time completing this project and I wanted to share.)

Thanks for watching and Happy Scrapping

Thank-you to a Colleague and Friend

It is with a heavy heart that I have to say good-to a new friend because she is moving to a new school system next year.  Jessica Groff was a big inspiration in setting up this blog, she really pushed me and made me try new things.  If anyone out there needs help configuring a blog, Jess is your girl. Her hobby is making cupcakes, so as a thank you to her, I completed this project and gave it to her as a gift.  She really liked it, and I hope you do too.  I am going to try to post the pic and list the items I used.

This Photo shows the complete 2 page spread

The Cupcakes were made using the Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge and stamp set

The frosting for the vanilla cupcake is Stickles Liquid Pearls White and the chocolate cupcake is using Stickles Cinnamon

The Button in Hobby was made using my Imaginisce I-top tool using a  22mm brad, I cup out one of the cupcakes printed on Paper from DCWV's  Sweet Stack, and the "G" in the right photo came from Recollections Chipboard
finally the journalling block came from DCWV -The Celebration Stack, the Cupcake pennant came from Cricut's Pretty Pennants Cartridge.  I also used a few other little items like Tattered Angels/Glimmer Mist Coffee Shop, my cuttlebug, Bazzill Brown paper and Rattail cord from Fibre Craft for the banner

I hope you enjoyed my project, I certainly enjoyed making it!

A New Beginning

Hi everyone, this is my very first post, I know my site looks a little bare, but I'm just learning and experimenting.  The one thing I would like to talk about as you know is scrapbooking.  My site will primarily be about my scrapbooking, however, other parts of my life may be creeping in as well.

For instance, recently my bowling team went to Reno, we stayed at the  Atlantis, which was great and they have a marvelous Spa.  Kudos to all the young ladies that work there, thanks for a wonderful day.  Now back to scrapping. I just want to share this new site that I am infatuated with, "UStream", so far I have only been watching but I do believe after watching  others on their channel, I think I can do the same thing.  After all some of the ladies just seem to be doing their regular scrapping, hah, I think I can do that.

Oh well, I just wanted to share that with you, so please hang in there with me.
